The all-new Maruti Suzuki DZire 2017 has been officially launched in India. This mid-sized sedan has tasted huge success in the Indian market, and the new variant is going to carry forward the legacy with a pride. But is this sedan better than the Toyota Etios? We find it here in this side-by-side comparison review.
Maruti DZire 2017 vs. Toyota Etios
The all-new 2017 Maruti Suzuki DZire is one of the best looking and stylish mid-sized sedans available today. The attractive exterior design features all-new almond-shaped headlamps, newly design bonnet, bumpers and front grille with chrome used as highlighting feature everywhere. The top-end variant also gets LED DRLs, which gives a premium look to the sedan. On the rear, the LED tail-lamps and chrome strip on boot-lid looks superb.
The Toyota Etios looks good too. The well-designed front grille placed above sporty bumpers look decent. The front and rear bumpers with curvy design give this car a trendy look. The designers have used chrome everywhere, on the bumpers, fog lamps, door handles, side strip and not to forget the thick chrome strip on the boot. While comparing with the all-new DZire, the Etios looks matured and kind of out-dated as well.
On the interior, the 2017 Maruti DZire impresses on the first go. The new dashboard design, zero-degree instrument console, new steering wheel with tilt adjustment and redesigned AC vents give it a fresh look. However, the beige and black theme and plastic quality is still the same found on the outgoing model. The cabin is spacious and roomy, offering ample of space and comfort to the passengers on front and rear.
The dashboard design of Toyota Etios looks confused and fails to get our approval. The centrally mounted instrument cluster gives too much of information, which we liked. However, the wrong placement of AC vents and big AC control knobs look cheap. While comparing with interiors of the new Maruti DZire, the Etios fails again.
Infotainment System & Safety Features
The top-end variant of 2017 DZire gets a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity coupled with two speakers and two tweeters. For safety, the new DZire gets front dual-airbags and anti-braking system (ABS) as a standard feature across all trims.
The Toyota Etios features an outdated music system, which is coupled with tinny speakers with not so good sound quality. It is one of the biggest disappointments we can list on the Toyota Etios. For your safety, the Toyota Etios also offers front dual-airbags and anti-braking system (ABS) with EBD as a standard feature across all trims.
